Suggestion for replacing the rubber strip on the sides

Recommended Posts

Hi, anyone has any suggestions about a replacement tape (?) for the rubber strip on the side grips? Mine is slippery. I've browsed the web, youtube, and other websites, suggesting a grip tape for guns (IIRC) or grip tape for hockey use. Maybe someone here has a suggestion...

Thank you in advance,

Damir.

Mine got quite "rubbery" after using the mouse for some time now(like as if the coating had to be washed off)

If I put a magnet on the body of The Z, the rubber grip tape part would be very thick. Though it is a good idea. I'm currently looking into 3M 610 grip tape, I wanted to see if it can work for me...

I finally changed the rubber inserts using 3M Safety Walk grip tape. I use the 200 series (type 220 to be exact). Wow, this is a great reference picture.
I just received 3M 610, 310, 220 today.
But in the end, I decided not to use it on all sides.
Fingertips feel painful when pinching~~

I only use 610 for the right side(little finger)

I have a tendency to buy a MX Master 2S for its unique wheel.
Do you often use MX Master 2S after having the Z ?

Usually under what situation you will switch the mouses?

Is this a metal mouse pad?
I only dare to use a cloth mouse pad.
I am very curious about where to buy Z's mouse stickers.

I have the old MX Master. It feels good in my hand, but the tracking and responsiveness...

Yes, an aluminium mousepad, and I sand it down a bit with a nail file to smooth out the micro ridges.

I'm not a fan of the rubberization mouse companies use, or car companies... They end up melting, and getting super sticky and slimy...

Even normal plastic coating wears off to a shine after use. It adds up in cost to apply it, make these inserts, etc... and they basically do nothing other than introduce timebomb defects.

It'd be better to indent the sides more for the fingers to fit within better - then there isn't any need for any type of grippy stuff, and it makes it more usable for those of us with deficits.

you mean something like a perfectly fitted mouse for your hand?

Well that would cost a bit

And I dont know what you do with your mouse, but I have a hell lot of old mouses and none of them shows any wear on the coating

Some don't, a lot do. I use them - I don't treat them like something I should be scared to touch. I use them as the tool they were designed to be. Of course, I keep my hands super clean around my equipment though - that's one thing I can't stand is people eating, having fingers full of chip grease, etc... and then touching keys on a keyboard or mouse.
